MEET PAULINA
/ JOURNEY
Paulina's rich cultural background profoundly influences her design philosophy. She was born in Guanajuato, Mexico—a region known for its vibrant colors, historic architecture, and artisanal traditions. Her mother, originally from San Francisco, often brought the family back to the Bay Area to visit family and friends, sparking an early connection to the city’s layered design sensibility and diverse culture. That connection deepened when Paulina moved to San Francisco to pursue her degree in Interior Architecture and Design. It was here she met her husband, built a family, and laid the foundation for what would become her design practice.
Paulina integrates her heritage and global perspective into every project, blending craftsmanship with a clean, modern aesthetic.
After finishing her undergraduate degree in Interior Architecture and Design at the Academy of Art University San Francisco in 2006. She went on to work for venerable design firms and architects, where she worked on high-end residences and hospitality projects, including developers and operators such as Four Seasons, Fairmont, Yellowstone Club and Montage. Paulina’s projects have been recognized for design excellence by the AIA and IIDA receiving local, regional, and national Honor Awards.

At Paulina Carcach Studio, we live and breathe design. Based in San Francisco’s vibrant Mission District, our studio draws inspiration from the city’s layered history, diverse culture, and creative energy. From the sunny hills of Noe Valley to the classic charm of Russian Hill, the tree-lined streets of Burlingame to the modern estates of Atherton, we’ve worked across the Bay Area to create homes that feel as good as they look.
Collaboration is central to our work. We partner closely with homeowners, architects, builders, craftspeople, and artists to bring refined, livable spaces to life—always with a focus on timeless style, functionality, and meaningful detail. Supporting small, local makers and cultivating lasting relationships is at the heart of what we do.
